Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start creating a document in iMakePDFs? ▼
You can begin from the Dashboard Hub using four quick ingestion options:
  • Blank Canvas: Pick standard A4, US Letter, US Legal, or enter custom width and height.
  • Templates: Choose from pre-formatted business layouts including Invoices, Field Work Orders, Estimates, and Checklists.
  • Camera Scan: Capture paper documents using your camera with automatic perspective correction.
  • Open Existing PDF: Import any PDF from the Apple Files app or iCloud Drive to view, annotate, edit, or re-organize.
Can I customize paper dimensions, margins, and page orientation? ▼
Yes. When creating or configuring a document, open the Paper Presets menu. You can switch between Portrait and Landscape orientations, select international paper sizes (A4, A5, US Letter, US Legal), or enter custom millimeter or inch measurements. Document canvases also feature toggleable alignment grids and rulers.
What layout elements can I add to a page? ▼
The Document Studio allows you to place:
  • Text Boxes: Rich typography with custom font selection, kerning, line spacing, alignments, and colors.
  • Images: Photos from your library or newly snapped captures with aspect ratio locks and cropping.
  • Data Tables: Formatted tabular grids for invoices and itemized pricing.
  • Vector Shapes: Rectangles, rounded boxes, dividers, and callout containers.
  • Fillable Form Elements: Text input fields, checkboxes, date selectors, and signature placeholders.
How does the Handwriting Font Studio work? ▼
The Handwriting Font Studio allows you to turn your natural handwriting into a scalable vector typography font:
  • Open the Font Studio from the app navigation.
  • Tap each character glyph in the character grid (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation).
  • Draw your letter on the precision vector canvas using your finger or Apple Pencil. Guided baseline and x-height rules keep your letters aligned.
  • Preview your complete font with live pangram sentences.
  • Apply your personalized font to any text block in your PDFs, or export standard font files to use across your iPad, Mac, or PC.
Can I use an Apple Pencil with the Font Studio? ▼
Yes! On iPad, the Handwriting Font Studio fully leverages Apple Pencil with pressure dynamics, tilt support, and palm rejection for extraordinarily natural strokes.
Can I export my custom font to use in other apps or on my computer? ▼
Yes. In the Font Studio menu, tap Export Font. iMakePDFs will compile your vector glyphs into a standard TrueType/OpenType compatible font file that you can install in macOS, Windows, or other iOS design applications.
How does text recognition (OCR) work? ▼
When you scan paperwork with your camera, iMakePDFs leverages Apple's on-device Vision framework. It detects text lines, paragraphs, and words directly from the camera sensor and converts them into editable text elements. You can review the extracted text in the editor, make corrections, and place it directly on your document canvas.
Is my scanned document uploaded to any server for OCR? ▼
No. Absolutely not. All OCR processing runs 100% locally on your iPhone or iPad processor. Your camera feed, photographs, and document contents never leave your device.
How do I create and store my digital signature? ▼
Go to Signatures in the dashboard or tap the signature tool inside the document canvas. You can:
  • Draw your signature directly on the smooth vector ink canvas.
  • Import a transparent photo or scan of your physical signature.
  • Save signatures securely on your device for one-tap insertion onto future agreements, invoices, and contracts.
How do I create interactive fillable forms (AcroForms)? ▼
Open the Form Fields toolbar inside the canvas editor. Drag text input boxes, checkboxes, radio selections, or signature areas onto your document. When you export the PDF, it generates a standard ISO-compliant AcroForm PDF. Anyone opening your PDF in Adobe Acrobat, Apple Preview, web browsers, or mobile viewers can fill out and submit the form interactively.
How do I merge multiple PDFs into a single file? ▼
Open the PDF Operations Studio, tap Merge PDFs, and select the files you want to combine from your device or iCloud. You can drag and drop pages to re-order them, delete unwanted sheets, and export a clean consolidated PDF.
How does PDF compression work and will it degrade document quality? ▼
iMakePDFs uses balanced compression algorithms that downsample high-resolution photographic embeds and optimize internal font tables and color streams without degrading vector text sharpness. You can choose between Light, Balanced, and Maximum compression to suit your target file size (e.g. for strict email attachment limits).
Does iMakePDFs collect any personal information or analytics? ▼
No data is collected. iMakePDFs does not include third-party tracking SDKs, advertising frameworks, or user analytics. We do not track what documents you create, how often you use the app, or what you write.
Where are my files stored? Can I access them in the iOS Files app? ▼
All documents are stored within your app container or in your designated iCloud Drive folder. You can browse, organize, copy, and backup your documents directly through the native iOS Files app under the "iMakePDFs" folder.
How do I report a bug or request a feature? ▼
We actively welcome your feedback and bug reports! You can email us at niraj@namchitechnology.com with the details of the issue, your device model, and your iOS version. We review every message and issue prompt updates.
